Carmel and Greg
Project K, consisting of Israeli violinist Carmel Raz and Chicago-based jazz saxophonist Greg Ward, is a unique sonic meeting between Jewish and African-American musical traditions. The resulting blend has enough soul and chutzpah to astonish and move listeners from all backgrounds.

Composer, violinist and improviser Carmel Raz has performed with Yoyo Ma's Silk Road Project, Barenboim's West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and in various orchestras internationally under the batons of Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Kurt Masur and Simon Rattle. An avid improviser, she has recently appeared with Alvin Curran, the Patricia Barber Quartet, Gene Coleman's Japanese Avant Garde group Ensemble N_JP, Christopher Adler's Thai music band Wong Krajaukthet, and various other world music ensembles. Greg Ward is rapidly emerging as one of the leading virtuoso saxophone players of his generation, with a unique versatility in a wide variety of styles including Modern Jazz, Funk, Latin as well as Indian, Klezmer and African Music. He has toured around the world with musical greats including Von Freeman, Al Jarreau, Carl Allen, Rufus Reid, Brian McNight and Hamid Drake, and has been featured at festivals including Ravinia, Sons d' Hiver, Montreaux Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Fest, Vision Festival in NYC, and Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival in Montreal.
