Dan Weinstein
Dan Weinstein is a virtuoso and versatile musician, passionate about all music ranging from early repertoire to contemporary experimental. Among his activities are projects that combine dance, theater and music. Dan has collaborated with many composers including Steve Reich, Giya Kancelli, Betsy Jolas, John Zorn, and has performed and recorded on French and Israeli radio and television, for the European Union broadcasting union. Notable festival appearances include a solo recital at Main d'Oevures, Paris, Europe en Musique, Le Printemps de la Danse, the Israel Festival, the Spring Festival in Rishon, the Kfar Blum Festival, the John Zorn Festival (where he gave the Israeli premiere of Zorn's string music) and the Ultra Nova Festival, as well as chamber music concerts across Singapore, Finland and Italy. Dan regularly performs with the Israel Contemporary Players and is a member of the Musica Nova Consort, where he has produced a number of experimental concerts incorporating contemporary pieces and electro acoustic elements.

Born in 1977 in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Dan Weinstein began playing the cello at the age of eight. He is a graduate of the Givataim Conservatory and the "Buchmann - Mehta School of music" as Mr. Hillel Zori's student in the years 1999-2003. During this time Dan took part in master classes with Janos Starker, Frans Helmerson, and the members of the "Florestan" Trio among many others. In 2002 he won the Tel Aviv Music Academy chamber music competition and in the following year continued his studies in Paris, first with Mrs. Barbara Marcinkowska and then with Mark Drobinksy. In 2005 Dan was awarded the "Zaleski" Scholarship for chamber music studies at the "Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris" and the Kaufman Grant.

Carmel Raz
Experimental musician Carmel Raz has been gathering international recognition for her activities as a composer, violinist and improviser.
As a violinist, Carmel was concertmaster of Daniel Barenboim's West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in 2001 and 2002, and has performed in the Berliner Symphoniker, das Symphonie Orchester Berlin, and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, appearing across Europe and Asia under the batons of Pierre Boulez, Ingo Metzmacher and Claudio Abbado. She has collaborated with many composers, ranging from as Evan Ziporyn, Helmut Lachenmann and Osvaldo Golijov to John Zorn and Alvin Curran, on performances of their works, including world premieres of Lachenmann's Grido Double at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland (2005), Ziporyn's Sulvasutra with the Silk Road Project Workshop at Carnegie Hall (2006), and the Israeli premiere of Zorn's music for string quartet (2008). This season she was invited to perform at the 2007 Klangspuren Festival in Schwaz, Austria, at the 2008 March Music Days in Bulgaria with the Israel Contemporary String Quartet, and at the 2008 UltraNova Festival in Tel-Aviv.

In addition to her activities as a classical performer, Carmel is very active as an improvising musician, performing a variety of music genres ranging from Jazz to World Music and Electronica. She has collaborated with artists including Klezmer Trumpeter Paul Brody, Jazz musicians Patricia Barber, Greg Ward, Avishai Cohen and Omer Avital's Third World Love, Soul singer Motep, Yoyo Ma's Silk Road Project, Chris Adler and Thai music band Wong Krajaukthet, and with electronic music artists Ido Govrin and Amnon Wolman. Upcoming performances include a concert at Carnegie Hall as part of the David Krakauer Young Artists Workshop.
